My normal starting point for setting up a portrait shoot remains the classic 'Rembrandt Lighting', positioning the main light to create a triangle of light below the eye of the unlit side of the face. I often add a fill-in to reduce shadows and a back light to 'halo' the hair. I light the background to create a sense of depth. And then, invariably, I move everything around and re-balance untill I get something I'm really happy with!

For 'Party Portraits' I also set up aiming to get good results over as large an area of the back ground as possible as there's little time to move the lights during the shoot. With Family Portraits and Portraits for Business, I generally have more time during the sittings and find I am continually adjusting and moving the lighting.  GC

  The 'Party Portraits' mobile studio service is aimed at corporate parties, schools & college balls or large private parties.  

   The Service involves setting up a large photographic background and studio lights in a corner or side room to the main venue. ( the space required is about 4m by 7m, preferably with a reasonably high ceiling and needs to be away from large windows or busy areas - and have a power supply!)

   The pictures can be of individuals, couples or small groups (up to about 6 or 7) and will be downloaded to laptop for your guests to view and order prints at the event. We may also be able to post the images to a web page so that subsequent orders can be made. 

We can arrange to meet up and go for a walk at a suitable venue to shoot 'life style' type portraits of you and your family in real life settings. The shoot will take an hour or so and we will invite you to adopt various 'natural looking' poses in different locations. The aim being to recreate the feel of family 'snap shots' with the skill and expertise of a professional photographer.

Our 'On Location' event portraiture dispenses with the studio set-up and is aimed at outdoor events such as company 'family days' and sports tournaments or corporate events where a reportage style is required. The pictures will be taken with portable flash or available light depending on the situtation. As with 'Party Portraits' event coverage, prints will be available to order and there may be scope to show the images online.
